A Stand-out Show Home: Portobello Road Success

The Auria Development Excites and Invites

Located in the heart of fashionable Notting Hill, The Auria development is one of their most impressive new schemes, and Ani M is excited to be a part of its continued success. Effortlessly on-trend and conveniently located, Portobello Road ranks high on the list of many corporate professionals’ preferred London locations, a reputation that comes with high expectations.

Concerning the décor, the developer was keen to incorporate plenty of what makes the neighbourhood so attractive. For this, they turned to the expertise Ani for our design-led philosophy that often draws on local history and architecture for inspiration. The cornerstone of this collaboration was the creation of a one-bedroom show apartment that would spark viewers’ imaginations by enveloping them in an embrace of opulence and luxury.

A Showcase Apartment That is Desirable and Attainable

Long before gentrification became a buzzword, West London led the way in art, design and fashion. Our team were confident that they could imbue this living space with the same spirit of innovation that has made the surrounding streets so famous – particularly from the late part of the 20th Century. The brief from Peabody was quite clear: the show home was to appeal to professionals who were breaking through into the upper echelons of their respective industries. These are individuals who do not impress easily. Still, the Ani M team were confident that by showcasing the right combination of design flair and home staging panache, a major sales push would be achievable.

Colours That Speak of Comfort and Calm

Leaning into the Peabody legacy that has seen them contribute to a series of town-planning innovations through history, Ani M set about reimagining the space with boldness and vivacity. The colour scheme is warm, yet muted, conjuring up an atmosphere of mid-century cosiness and calm. This immerses the viewer into a world of refined and restrained luxury that feels both confident and convivial. The furnishings, although thoroughly modern, also take design cues from the past with slim profiles and an elegant approach to functionality. While utilising the dramatic effect of feature walls, Ani M also decided that cushions and accessories of various shapes, sizes and colours would be useful for unobtrusively breaking up any sterile lines and angles.

Another tactic of ours, employed in the living room and bedroom, was hanging a series of abstract paintings at different heights and in various frame shapes. These introduced an organic quality to the rooms and created a series of thematic motifs that would stay in the viewer’s memory long after they had left the flat. Textured wallpaper, free-standing light fittings and quirkily shaped mirrors add a funky, lived-in flavour to the rooms that allow prospective buyers to imagine themselves right at the centre of Notting Hill’s vibrant culture. The Ani M teams take particular pride in their window dressing designs and applications. The idea, in this instance, was to create mini hubs of creativity that would, not only allow natural light to lift the rooms, but also serve as spaces in which to relax and reflect. Paired with mirrors and sympathetic lighting, this assortment of drapes, blinds and curtains beautifully harmonises with the furnishings and accessories in the rest of the apartment.

An Outstanding Asset for The Developer

We remained in constant touch with Peabody, meticulously scheduling delivery times and installation plans. Disruption was kept to a minimum, and all the phases were executed within budget and on time. This was particularly gratifying to the client, who not only required a unique window into what their development could offer to the buyer, but also a profitable asset that would add value. The finished project is a vivacious modern take on the Portobello Road aesthetic: Artsy yet uncluttered, subtle yet undeniably on-trend. To put it succinctly, the apartment was now exactly what Peabody required and more.
